Battle ready

There are many things that can rob our peace in this life. The Bible warns us of this but tells us exactly how to guard ourselves and be ready for the battles that will come for us in this life. Situations aren’t always big battles. Sometimes it’s the little ‘shake ups’ that can rob us of our peace of mind or happiness in our day or throughout our life.

Sometimes we make mistakes and have to suffer the consequences for a bit. Sometimes others hurt us, offend us or injure us and we have to do the forgiving while trying to nurse our own wounds and somehow stay in peace. And still other times it’s not people but life circumstances that get us down.

But, if we apply what Ephesians 6:10-11 says, we have a way to be ‘battle ready’ so we can make it through these trials easier. It says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” We know the enemy is lurking about, seeking to devour us. He is a sneaky liar and is downright mean and he truly delights in our pain. But we must be strong and know that with God on our side, who can be against us?

I like to think that I am filling myself up SO full of God, that there is just NO room left for the Devil and his ridiculousness! However, truth be told some days I am only strong enough to fill up to 99% and sure enough… that nasty bugger tries to wedge his way into that 1%. That is why intentionally putting on God’s suit of armor EVERY DAY is necessary for our survival and ability to have a happy life.

What is this armor? Ephesians 6:14-20 goes on in very specific detail. It says to stand firm and apply the following…

· Belt of truth buckled around your waist

· Breastplate of righteousness in place

· Feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace

· Take up the shield of faith (with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one)

· Helmet of salvation

· Sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God)

And finally, it says to “Pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for ALL the Lord’s people.”

So, LETS SUIT UP! When we do our part, God will surely do the rest! Stay in faith friend.
