God has given us each a specific task in our lives. That task is to love one another the way we love ourselves. (John 13:34) Well, what about the people who have a hard time even looking in the mirror, much less loving themselves? Your task would be to learn to love yourself and then, in turn learn to truly love others. When we embrace Jesus Christ and follow the example he set for us, we understand and accept that God freely forgives us, loves us and he wants to bless us. He gives us direction on how to live a better life and that journey begins in our hearts and minds.
Mark 11:22-24 reminds us of the power we have been given. “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
This scripture is straight forward and ultimately life altering. Now, I don’t have the desire to even try to throw mountains into the sea literally. However, there have been major obstacles or situations (mountains) in my life that I have chosen to not focus on, but give to God (throw into the sea). I think this may have been what Jesus was expressing here. I have prayed, said affirmations and believed with all my heart that those ‘mountains’ in my life would pass quickly, and God would restore and even bless those situations. And He NEVER failed me. Not even one time. But, the key is… I did my part. I stayed faithful in prayer and actively believed that all things were working out to my good.
Pray. Believe. Receive.
The recipe is just that simple. God has made us co-creators of our lives. I believe that can work for us or against us depending on our mindset. What does your inner dialogue look like? Do you think constantly of what you don’t have vs. the good that could be? Does your mind always jump to the worst of the what if’s of life? You can change that right now! You have trained your mind to behave that way, whether consciously or unconsciously. It’s time to train it differently. When those negative thoughts creep in, say NO! Declare with authority that you are a child of the Most High King and He has given you the power to change those thoughts and ultimately your reality.
Declare out loud: I am well able, strong and equipped! No weapon formed against me shall prosper! I forgive myself and every person who has ever hurt me! My life is precious, and I am loved! I am moving confidently into the abundant life God has purposed for me! Thank you Father for giving me the promise of victory!
To believe in even one word of the Bible, we must believe in it all. We cannot be “cherry pickers” of what we do and do not want to take to heart. There is freedom, hope, power, acceptance and beauty when we embrace the word. God has also given us great power and with faith, trust and love we can live a beautiful life with Him at our side.
