Introducing: The Book Nook
Today has been a chilly, rainy, windy day here in North Carolina. Kind of weird for this time of year but that seems right in line with the rest of 2020, so I’ve decided to sit back, relax and just enjoy the rainy day. What could possibly be better on a day like this, then a snuggly blanket, hot cup of tea and a good book?!?!
I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. Give me the choice between TV, movies or a good book - a good book wins every time. I love reading because it’s a welcomed break but it’s not mindless. Although I am in someone else’s story, my imagination is still engaged. I also love a book that can teach me a thing or two. In fact, my genre selection is quite varied, which I’m sure isn’t a surprise to those of you who know me lol.
It’s funny because I have been trying to decide how I wanted to announce the new tabs on this site that have been “under construction” behind the scenes. What better day than today to announce & release the newest page on Daily Restored, the Book Nook. Just hover over the new Lifestyle tab in the menu bar and you will see the drop down box.
I love getting good book recommendations from my friends and family. We trade books back and forth, sometimes meeting up at the local coffee hot spot or juice bar and chit chat about life, family, faith and good books!
I believe adding this Book Nook page fits perfectly into the theme of Daily Restored, because reading is a great way to relax and gently restore our minds. The page will highlight a list of my top 3 recent best reads, favorites from the past and a list of what I will be reading next.
This will be an awesome opportunity to open the conversation to you as well! I gladly welcome your recommendations, feedback, comments or questions. The list will be continually updated, so be sure to keep checking back often so you don’t miss a thing!
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I stay very aware of everything that I consume. That especially includes my mind. I carefully consider the books I choose to read. I think of the scripture at Phillipians 4:8 that says, “...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.”
