Seasons; A time for everything

Human lives are lived in what some refer to as ‘seasons.’ For a season we are children. For a season we are teenagers. (Thank God that season doesn’t last long). For a season we are single. For a season we are parents. Et cetera. Jobs, hobbies, location and even relationships come and go in seasons as well.

The Bible talks a lot about various seasons of life we will experience. Interesting that today after my prayer time, I asked God to show me what He would have me hear for this day. I flipped open my Bible (I like to play scripture roulette every now and again) and landed right on Ecclesiastes Chapter 3. I already had a bit of that chapter highlighted, so my eyes naturally looked exactly there.

The very first sentence reads: “There is a time for everything.” It goes on to describe many of the seasons we may experience in our lives both figurative and literal. In verse 11 it lovingly reminds us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” That means to me that we should take careful consideration to intentionally find the beauty in every season we have in our lives. Even though at times those seasons may be tumultuous or unfavorable, look for the beauty because ‘this too shall pass.’ Remember, there is someone out there praying for what you have right now. And then, for the seasons of blessings, slow down and try not to miss a thing. Take time to appreciate your life and blessings given to you and be sure to pass that on and be a blessing to someone else.

We are assured time and again in the Bible that God is working all things for our good. In fact, in verse 12 of Ecclesiastes 3 it says, “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.”

So, for today, let’s all vow to do exactly that. Seize the day and ‘do good while we live.’ Sometimes, in just a blink of an eye, the seasons change.
