Under his wings
As you may have already noticed, I am quite partial to the book of Psalms. It offers encouragement and comfort and I always find myself smiling while I read it. I am always humbled and excited to think how special God thinks we are- to have given us the Bible as a life tool. It doesn’t miss a beat. No matter what the situation in our lives may be, the answer can ALWAYS be found in the Bible.
Today, I wanted to offer you a moment of sunshine with one of my absolute favorite scriptures. This scripture became a daily reference for me many years ago when I was drowning in a terrible season of my life. God restored me and reminded me everyday that I am HIS and He would never fail me. And although I had to go through some pretty muddy waters, I came out stronger and closer to Him. He never let me down for a moment and if you give yourself to Him, He will never let you down either.
Psalm 91:4 – He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
I picture a mama eagle with that massive wing span pulling her baby bird in closer to her, to protect it from the elements and predators. The security, the warmth, the peace, the comfort and the confidence that baby bird must have is total and complete. How much more massive is our God, who promises that “If you say, The LORD is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling… He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:9-16)
He knows that we are being bullied by our Adversary roaming this earth looking to devour us, trip us up, make us sad, mad, confused and so much more. His own son, Jesus went through it as well and fully understands our battle. But if we call on our God, I promise you- HE IS BIGGER!
If you are already having a good day, smile bigger and make it a great day in this knowledge! If you are feeling sad today, please take shelter in the protection of your Heavenly Father and ask him to bring joy and peace to your heart- no matter how dire the circumstance. He can do it!! If you are feeling angry, humble yourself to the Lord and ask Him to let you rest in the fact that he is a God of justice and will surely make things right according to his perfect timing.
My prayer for you today is that you find even just a moment of sunshine in the fact that we have a shield against whatever this day throws at us. Dare to smile and be blessed.
